Degassing and Inerting

Service Terminal Rotterdam (STR) offers a comprehensive range of inerting, vapour recovery and emissions management services designed to support safe, efficient and environmentally responsible vessel operations.

We provide vessel inerting using pure nitrogen (N₂) supplied directly from the nearby Linde Gas production facility through a dedicated pipeline connection. This reliable supply enables us to efficiently prepare tanks and cargo spaces for loading, discharge and maintenance activities while maintaining the highest safety standards.

For heavier petroleum products, ranging from Fuel Oil to Jet A-1, STR offers degassing through a dedicated vapour return line connected to our own FRTO installation. By recovering and processing cargo vapours, we help customers reduce emissions, comply with environmental requirements and shorten vessel turnaround times.

To further expand our capabilities, STR has partnered with AQ Group, a leading specialist in emission reduction and cargo tank cleaning technologies. Through this collaboration, customers can access advanced cryogenic degassing services directly at STR. Using liquid nitrogen technology, AQ safely captures and removes cargo vapours from tanks, allowing a much wider range of products to be handled than with conventional vapour recovery systems alone.

The combination of STR's infrastructure and AQ's cryogenic technology creates a unique on-site solution within the Port of Rotterdam. Vessels can seamlessly transition between cargo operations, inerting and degassing activities without the need for relocation, reducing waiting times, minimizing operational delays and improving overall efficiency.

This partnership also supports STR's commitment to sustainability. By safely capturing and treating cargo vapours, emissions can be significantly reduced, helping customers meet increasingly stringent environmental requirements while contributing to cleaner and more responsible port operations.
